Freezing February

February was COLD. We had a couple of warm days, but then it got cold again.
The proportion of my 365 project related to work was even bigger - 6 of the 28 pictures- but there was a birthday (Bex's) to take the edge off it, and there was my own delayed birthday present of the trip to see Frankenstein.

There seemed to be more focus on food in February - 4 pictures (14% of the month).

Tor had an exterme haircut - reminding me of the days of my youth when I had equally extreme hairstyles.

Not an overly exciting month - but it ended with a reminder that unlike the scarecrow, I do have a brain. Yes, I am a physics alumnus (actually, it was astrophysics). Wow - go me!

Frankenstein

Went to a fantastic production of Frankenstein at the National Theatre. B bought tickets for this for my birthday way back in December - but it was worth the wait.  The set design was excellent, and the lighting was inspired.  We were in the circle with a great view, but sadly, the circle bar wasn't open, so we couldn't avail ourselves of the green, smoking cocktails (looked like they had dry ice in them).

Benedict Cumberbatch gave an excellent performance as the monster - a very demanding role.

This is the first cultural outing of the year, but hopefully not the last!

Jaded January

Normally, January is a very positive month - the start of a new year and all that - but this year started with me feeling below par. I haven't been well for a while - various coughs and colds, upset stomachs recurring every few days, angina twinges whenever I get agitated or whenever I exercise (even a short walk can get my heart racing and start me panicking), and it all feels much worse when I get cold. Of course, this was the hardest winter since whenever, and of course, the boiler did its usual thing of breaking down just at the wrong time (Boxing day to begin with, then again just as the weather got really cold, but luckily after the snow).

The boiler  and the cold featured in four of my project365 photos for January. Thats 13% of my month spent thinking about being cold. Too much!

Work takes up another 13% (pictures - 10, 13, 19 & 25), and there is one CPD picture (27 - although I haven't actually finished reading these yet).

Looking at the pictures for the month makes me realise what a boring life I have. A couple of meals out, a couple of novels read, but not much else. I did overcome my fear of colours enough to buy a new light fitting for the hallway at the end of the month, and that deserves a bigger snapshot of it own.

Maybe February will feel better.
